Nyacomba Githu

Interior & Fashion Designer | Illustrator | Multidisciplinary Artist

When I sketch, I always ask: "How will this design make an impact?" My work thrives on cross-disciplinary collaboration—whether drawing inspiration from music, architecture, or other forms of art. My goal is to create designs that not only look beautiful but also empower people to express themselves confidently.

With over 10 years of experience in Nairobi, I’m ready to push my boundaries further. I value the exchange of diverse perspectives and embrace new challenges.

Interior Design.

Well, I completely dismissed it when I was leaving university, it never seemed something I would be particularly interested in.

Was it the way our teacher taught the subject? Was it the way I viewed spaces? Maybe it was after leaving university and curating spaces and wanting them to always feel like home, wanting people in my little cocoon, when I felt like I finally understood it. I was grappling with the ideas and trying to transform them and breathe life into them, and this made me see how I had been looking at interiors all wrong all these years.

I hope now I can continue to tango with ideas in my mind that seem impossible to comprehend that implementation is key and patience and consistency are my key ingredients.

My passion for fashion design and illustration flourished during my university years, where I had the freedom to experiment and refine my craft. Adapting to global trends became second nature, and I was constantly curious about what would follow each collection.

Motifs, repeat patterns, and illustrations became central to my work, each element adding depth and cohesion across my designs. Color palettes filled my mind as I pushed myself to evolve alongside Nairobi’s dynamic landscape. The question of “why” drove my creative process, forming the foundation for every sample and collection I developed.

Consulting has become a major responsibility for me, as it allows me to collaborate closely with clients, ensuring their vision aligns with my expertise. Working together is essential to achieving designs that are both meaningful and impactful.

As a co-founder and facilitator at Free Mind Sessions, I am dedicated to fostering safe, inclusive spaces where individuals can engage in honest, meaningful conversations. I aim to encourage vulnerability, introspection, and community connection through each session, allowing participants to explore their beliefs and challenge societal norms in a welcoming environment.

In my role, I am not just a host but an active listener and guide, ensuring every participant’s voice is heard and valued. I craft sessions that feel like gatherings among friends, often held in informal settings that evoke comfort and openness.
